Attendance at the Annual Meeting is FREE to all BYC members, and lunch and refreshments will be provided. You are allowed a maximum number of delegates with voting rights, which is governed by the size of your organisation (please refer to our website for information about this). In addition to this we will have extra spaces for support workers, please contact us if you require more information on this.

At the Annual Council Meeting the agenda will include:

Our Parliament, Our Vision Campaign

Every other year we alternate the way in which we review and take forward our external policy positions and campaigns. This year we will be doing this by deciding on the contents of a BYC General Election Manifesto. At the Annual Council Meeting we decide on the contents of our General Election Manifesto for all political parties as part of Our Parliament, Our Vision Campaign. This will detail five specific things Parliament must do (new laws they must make, Government work they must examine) in line with our Youth Manifesto.

Click here to take part in our current Our Paliament, Our Vision survey.

Electing our Board of Trustees

We have 16 candidates running in the election for the BYC officer positions and ordinary Trustees. You can find out more about them and what they want to do for you by reading their manifestos online in our Members section at www.byc.org.uk.

BYC’s Honorary Presidents

BYC’s Honorary Presidents are elected (or re-elected) annually and drawn from representatives of the three main political parties in the House of Commons. If you wish to put forward a Member of Parliament to be considered for one of these positions please fill the nomination form which can be found on our website.

BYC Board of Trustee report

The board will present their annual report to you, including our accounts for 2008/09, and give you a chance to ask questions about the work of BYC.

You can register your delegates quickly and easily online at the bottom of this page – at this stage you can register ‘A.N.Other’ if you don’t know the names of your delegates – the deadline for names is 20th August (so we can meet any additional or specific delegate needs). However, please remember that you need to pay your membership fees for 2009/2010 before 14th August 2009 to be able to claim your voting entitlement (please see ACMD2 – the Delegate Entitlement form).

If you have any queries regarding the enclosed documents or about the Annual Council Meeting please contact David Clark at events@byc.org.uk or on 020 7785 6461.

British Youth Council

The British Youth Council, as the national youth council of the UK, aims to connect with our member organisations and networks of local youth councils, to empower young people aged 25 and under, wherever they are from, to have a say and be heard. We aim to help them to participate in decisions that affect them; have a voice and campaign on issues they believe in, inspire them to have a positive impact, and gain recognition for their positive contribution to communities, society and the world.
